Before income taxes. Cold rent only covers the apartment; building charges, heat, and water are counted separately. Not included: a car, children, private school, fertility treatment, major dental work, or long-term care.
Braids, locs, wig installs, and the hair and skin products you already trust may cost more or take hunting to find. Price them on a scouting trip and add them here yourself.
One-time costs before your first normal month, not counting flights or shipping.

Planning ranges come from Sovereign Sundays’ November 2026 Germany research. Rents are newcomer allowances for a long-term apartment, not city averages or listings. Insurance is a reserve, not a premium quote: a self-employed person can pay up to about €982 a month for statutory health insurance alone, before long-term care insurance. Transport uses two €63 Deutschlandtickets; the price rises to €66.80 each in January 2027.
